Diamond-like carbon thin film has broad prospects in field of space lubrication, said Xue Qunji, member of CAE
Date:04-05-2009 |

During the 2009 Academic Exchange Conference recently held by the Material Special Committee of the Chinese Society of Space Research, Prof. Xue Qunji made a specially invited speech on the tribological research on the diamond-like carbon thin film.

Prof. Xue is the director of the Chinese Society of Space Research, member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, director of the Academic Committee of the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and director of the Academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication.

In Prof. Xue’s speech the research status of the diamond-like carbon thin film was comprehensively reviewed and the prospect of the application of the diamond-like carbon thin film in space lubrication was given. Prof. Xue pointed out that great breakthroughs have been made in the research on the tribological properties of diamond-like carbon thin film in vacuum during recent years and diamond-like carbon thin film would be widely used in the technology field of solid lubrication for the moving parts in the future.
