Prof. Liu Dongsheng, from the National Center for NanoScience and Technology, were invited to visit our institute by Prof. Zhou Feng at June 16th. Prof. Liu presented the academic lecture of “Micromechanics with a focus on tribo-mechanics and machinery monitoring” and “Nucleic acid molecular motor and its function evolvement”, in which he introduced the research progress of assembly of DNA and discussed in detail his research group’s work on nucleic acid molecular motor with pH responsiveness and the related functions. The lecture, which was closely related with the work of our institute on surface engineering, micro- and nano- materials, etc., was not only vivacious but enlightening as well. More than forty research fellows and students participate in the academic lectures and hold deeper discussions about the content of the lecture with Prof. Liu after the lecture delivering.

Prof. Liu Dongsheng, who graduated from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1993, got his Master degree in 1999 in the Institute of Chemistry Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2002, he got his PhD in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and then carried out postdoctoral work at the University of Cambridge. Dr. Liu, ‘Outstanding Young Research Foundation’ of Chinese National Science Foundation in 2007, is a professor of the National Center for NanoScience and Technology now. His research interests are focused on developing nanostructures via interaction of biomacromolecules and designing nano-sized devices. Prof. Liu has published more than 10 papers in impactive Journals such as J. Am. Chem. Soc. and Angew. Chem., Int. Ed. etc.
