According to the 2008-2009 exchanging program between Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) and Australia Academy of Science (AAS), Invited by Professor Fengyuan Yan, Deputy Director, at the State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication (SK-LSL) of the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Dr. Shirley Shen, a research scientist at the Division of Materials Science and Engineering in CSIRO (CSIRO MSE), Australia, has arrived the SK-LSL and started her scientific visiting and academic exchanges for a few weeks.
Dr. Shirley Shen is the Team Leader of the Polymer Composites and Nanomaterials Team at CSIRO MSE. Her team’s research activities focus on polymeric composites with inorganic nanoparticles modifications, surface/interface designs and modifications, materials structures and characteristics, composites properties and their applications, etc. Her team has excellent relationship with a few international and Australian famous companies by delivery major research projects as well as with other few research institutes over the world. They have high reputation internationally on the fundamental and applied researches and developments.
Dr. Shirley Shen has started and will continue work with the scientists and researchers at SKLSL on nano-particle filled nylon, epoxy composites and their tribology properties and performance. We expect that deeper understandings on process and tribology functions of the polymeric composites can be achieved.
Dr. Shirley Shen will also give a series of invited oral presentations at Lanzhou Institutes of Chemical Physics while she is doing her visiting research. Her presentations will give us an overview of her team current researches on polymeric nanocomposites, including manufactures and process techniques, structure characteristics, properties and testings, and applications.
