Liu Xianfa, President of the Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP), China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), and the delegation of the RIPP visited the LICP on November 20, 2009. The delegation was composed of the related personnel of the Division of Enterprises Culture, Conditions Ensuring Division, Presidents’ Office and Lanzhou Chemical Research Center of the RIPP. Professor Liu Weimin, Director of the LICP, introduced the research areas and directions, research platforms, talents, achievements transformation and industrialization of the LICP to the delegates. Then, accompanied by Director Liu Weimin, the delegation paid a visit to the exhibition room, State Key Laboratory of Oxo Synthesis and Selective Oxidation and State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication. After visiting, two sides had a discussion.

Director Liu extended his warm welcome to the visitors. He said that, LICP has been expanding the cooperation with enterprises and research institutes in recent years. With the goal of developing more practical technology, LICP has strived to solve the key technological problems of the state and enterprises, to better realize the transformation and transfer of S&T achievements and to make greater contributions to the socio-economic development and the growth of enterprises’ economy. He raised some advice on further strengthening communication and cooperation between two sides. He hoped that both sides set up common cooperative goals, reach an agreement and enhance the cooperation and communication to gain the win-win for both. He also wished that two sides promote mutual understanding. Only through this, can there be a bright future of the two parties’ cooperation.

President Liu Xianfa fully agreed with Director Liu. He said that, this was the first time he came to the LICP. Through the visit, LICP’s research work, S&T achievements, training of talents and construction of research platforms have left him with a deep impression. LICP has based itself on national strategic needs and to reach the top level of world science. Then, President Liu Xianfa introduced the basic conditions, research fields, strategic orientation and developing plans of the RIPP. He wished that the research capability of the RIPP be strengthened with the help of the LICP’s research platforms and highly qualified innovative groups. Both sides should make the most of the respective advantages to raise the theoretical level of the fundamental research of the RIPP. He expected that both sides establish a long-term cooperative mechanism and reach an agreement of the details of the cooperative projects.
