Prof. Emmanuel Baudrin of the French National Center for Scientific Research / Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) visited the State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication (LSL), Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP), CAS, on July 19. Accompanied by Prof. YAN Fengyuan, vice-director of the LSL, Prof. Emmanuel Baudrin visited the researching park of the LICP and LSL. He was entrusted by the France Embassy in China and Bureau of International Cooperation of the CAS to make academic exchanges in LICP.

After the visit, Prof. Emmanuel Baudrin gave a report entitled “Preparation of materials by soft chemistry and development of electrochemical systems: an interactions story between ionic species and solids”. The report mainly introduced the development history of lithium ion battery with emphasis given to the influence of the size of the nano-materials for lithium-ion battery cathode on cell performance. The research on the ion sensor and its application in biology and chemistry were introduced in the report as well.

During the discussion session, Prof. Emmanuel Baudrin hoped to further the cooperation with LICP in the future. In addition, the Program Caiyuanpei established jointly by the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, French Ministry of Higher Education and Research and Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, is also willing to provide funds for promising Sino-French cooperative programs.

Prof. Emmanuel Baudrin received his doctoral degree in material chemistry from the University of Picardie, Jules Verne in 1999. He then did the postdoctoral research in the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from 1999 to 2000. He has been a researcher of the CNRS since 2000. In 2010 he became a physical chemistry professor of the University of Picardie, Jules Verne.

Prof. Emmanuel Baudrin has been the head of the research group of lithium-ion battery cathode materials and research group of development and application of ion sensors of the CNRS. He has made certain achievements in electrochemistry, liquid-phase chemistry, material characterization and soft chemistry synthesis. He has given 5 invited reports, published over 40 papers and participated in more than 30 academic reports.

Prof. Emmanuel Baudrin is giving the report.
