Prof. CHEN Yongsheng, director of the Nano Science and Technology Research Center of the Nankai University gave a lecture with the title of “Preparation of Soluble Graphene in Macroscopic Quantity and Research on Graphene Devices” in the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP) of the CAS on September 16. More than 60 researchers and postgraduates attended the lecture.

Prof. CHEN Yongsheng

Listening attentively

Starting with energy and environment which are two major problems faced by human in the 21st century, Prof. CHEN analyzed how to gain advantages in the new round of industry upgrading in his report. He also introduced the obvious advantages of carbon element and organic photovoltaic materials, his group’s research on controllable preparation of graphene in macroscopic quantity and modification, the superior properties of grapheme, the groups’ applied research on photoconductive materials, photovoltaic materials, super capacitor, room-temperature ferromagnetic materials, drug carrier, etc.

Prof. CHEN’ main research interest is carbon nano-materials, organic/polymer functional materials and devices. He took the position as a specially appointed professor in the Naikai University in May 2003 and founded the research group of “Carbon nano-materials and devices”. He has published over 90 papers in Science, Nature, JACS, Nano Lett, Adv Mater and so on. He has presided over projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Major State Basic Research Development Program of China, National High Technology Research and Development Program of China, etc.

Prof. CHEN was invited by Prof. ZHANG Junyan of the State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication of the LICP.
