In his lecture, Professor LIU introduced the principles, background, application of light-light conversion, light-electricity and light-heat conversion materials and his group’s progress in these fields. As for light-light conversion, his group has prepared yttrium aluminum garnet fluorescent powder and tested its temperature stability, light stability and white-light LED package. As far as light-electricity conversion is concerned, his group has carried out research on photocatalyst and on replacing oxygen with nitrogen. When it comes to light-heat conversion, his group has carried out research on killing cancer cell using nano-gold with the help of infrared rays.
Professor LIU Ruxi received his bachelor’s degree in 1981 from Soochow University, master’s and doctor’s degree from Tsing Hua University in 1983 and 1990 respectively. In 1992 he received his doctor’s degree from University of Cambridge. Ha has joined Taiwan University since 1995. Ha has published more than 400 papers and applied more than 80 patents. His research interests include phosphor for white light-emitting diode, synthesis and application of nanomaterials, energy and magnetic materials.
