The 5th conference youth on surface engineering was held in Yinchuan, capital city of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, form May 28 to 31, to help young researchers in interdisciplinary areas of surface engineering to better communicate and exchange academic views.

The theme of the conference was green surface engineering and its innovative application. About 260 persons from institutions of higher education, research institutes and enterprises attended the conference.

During the meeting, renowned experts in surface engineering, including Professor XU Binshi form Academy of Armored Forces Engineering of PLA, Professor XUE Qunji from LICP, Professor LAI Yinan from National Natural Science Foundation of China and so on were invited to give lectures about the latest development in surface engineering

The conference was sponsored by the Youth Working Committee of the Surface Engineering Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES) and organized by the State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication of the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
