TIAN Zhongqun, a professor at the Xiamen University and member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) visited the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics of the CAS on September 22. During his visit, he delivered a lecture entitled Innovation in invention and development of nano-structure based surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy.

In his lecture, Prof TIAN introduced the discovery, development and application of Raman spectroscopy, especially the thriving of the surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy in the 1970s and its fast development in nearly half a century. He also introduced his group’s achievement in catalysis, surface science, material science and other fields using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy.

Introduction to Prof. TIAN:

Prof. TIAN received his bachelor’s degree from Xiamen University and doctoral degree from the South Ampton University. In 1987 he joined the Xiamen University. His research interests are surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, electrochemistry, nanochemistry, molecular assembly and so on. He has published more than 230 papers in Nature and other world- renowned journals. His papers have been cited more than 10,000 times.

He was elected the member of the CAS in 2005. He is also the Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and Fellow of the International Society of Electrochemistry. He was elected the member of the Third World Academy of Sciences in 2014. He is associate chief editor of Chem. Soc. Rev., J. Am. Chem. Soc. And so on.
