Abstract: By using an electron probe micro-analyzer (EPMA) and a laser Raman spectrometer (LRS), the mineral and elemental compositions of the cat’s eye on a ring surface from an ancient tomb was analyzed. These data provide a strong evidence for this gemstone to be chrysoberyl cat's eye.
