Abstract: A water-soluble fluorescent perylene diimide derivative with four carboxylic groups [N,N'-bi(L-aminosuccinic amine)-perylene-3,4;9,10-tetracarboxylic diimide]was synthesized using L-Aspartic acid and 3,4;9,10-perylenetetracarboxy anhydride. Red shift of the spectra was observed and the fluorescence of compound was quenched in the presence of Fe3+、Pb2+ 、Al 3+and Cu2+ metal ions, while the quenching of fluorescence was weak in the presence of Hg2+、Zn2+、Ni 2+、Co2+、Mn2+ and Mg2+. There is no other anions to interference the detection. The fluorescence mechanism of PTCDA was discussed and the results showed that this method is worth of application and has a broad prospect.
