Abstract: The coin metal (Cu-, Ag- and Au-) doped BiVO4 were hydrothermal synthesized and characterized by X\|ray diffraction (XRD), X\|ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV-vis diffused reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The XRD analysis showed that all photocatalysts had the same crystal forms with the single monoclinic sheelite structure. The XPS results showed that coin metal existed on the surface of M\|BiVO4 catalysts (M=Cu, Ag and Au) as their stable oxide cation species. The red\|shift of their absorption edge by DRS studies was obtained. The photocatalytic activity was investigated using methyl orange as a photocatalytic degradation model reactant. The results showed that all the M-doped catalysts have enhanced photocatalytic activities under visible-light irradiation. The enhanced photocatalytic mechanism was also discussed.
