Abstract: the preparation and catalytic activity of carbon supported Co-phthalocyanine compounds(CoPc/C) as electrocatalyst for oxygen reduction was studied. Thiscomposite was synthesized in one step through heat-treatment. The catalysts were characterized by XRD, IR techniques. The result showed that the product was the CoPc/C with the average particle size of 30 nm.The catalytic performance and mechanism of catalysts for ORR were investigated by electrochemical methods, such as cathode polarization and AC impedance measurements. The onset potential of oxygen reduction reaction is 0 V (vs.Hg/ HgO) and the current density can reach 100mA·cm-2 at -0.1V. The relevant kineticparameters were obtainedthrough simulation and calculation ofthe electrochemical test results.
