THF polymerization catalyzed by HPW supported on SiO2 aerogel

Abstract: A series catalysts of HPW supported on SiO2 aerogels were prepared by incipient impregnation. The catalysts were characterized by means of BET、XRD、NH3-TPD、FT-IR、Py-IR. The catalysts were applied to THF polymerization. The effects of the HPW loading amount, polymerization reaction time and reaction temperature on the THF polymerization were investigated. The results showed that the optimal loading amount is 50%, the reaction temperature is 50 ℃, the reaction time is 4 h. Under the optimal conditions, the yields PTMEG reached about 53% and the number-average molecular weight was about 2000. The polymer can be used as a textile and other chemical raw materials.
