Abstract: The nickel complexes bearing N^N, N^O, P^O and P^N systems have been widely investigated as excellent catalysts for the ethylene polymerization or oligomerization in recent years. Key advantages of these systems lie in that they have high catalytic activities, structure-controllable ligands, controllability of product properties, mild reaction conditions, and tolerance towardprotonated solvents, such as water, which could hardly be achieved by any other olefin polymerization catalytic systems. In this paper such homogeneous nickel catalytic systems for ethylene polymerization reaction are reviewed.
