Abstract: A series of Cu-La2O3/SiO2 catalyst with different la loading was synthesized by impregantion of the mother Cu/SiO2 catalyst prepared by pricipitate-gel method. The physical and chemical properties of the catalysts were investigated by the techniques of N2 adsorption-desorption,X-ray diffraction (XRD), temperature-programmed reduction (TPR), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Transmission electron microscopy(TEM). The catalytic performance for hydrogenolysis of glycerol was studied in a stainless steel autoclave at 200℃ and 8 MPa H2.It was found that a proper amount of la doped could not only inhibit the sintering of copper during calcination, but also the leaching of copper during reaction, which in turn helps to retard the deactivation of the catalysts. In addition, the synergistic effect between copper and lanthanum which is enhanced after high temperature calcination, promotes the catalytic activity in glycerol hydrogenolysis.
