Abstract: The synthesis of a composite electrocatalyst CoNi-PVP using polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as protection agent was studied. The samples were characterized by IR, TEM, SEM-EDS measuremens. The results showed the samples were Co and Ni nanolines with the diameter ranged from 3 to 5 nm and the length 100 nm. The electrocatalytic activity of the CoNi-PVP electrode was investigated by cyclic voltammetry and chronopotentiography. The highest catalytic activity for oxidation of ethanol was found at the electrode with CoNi content of 2% and the mole ratio PVP:CoNi of 5:1.
