Abstract: The photocatalyst Sm2Ti2S2O5 was prepared by a modified coprecipitation-gas solid reaction method. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The activity of the prepared photocatalyst under visible light irradiation was evaluated by photocatalytic hydrogen evolution from water using formic acid as electron donor. The results show that compared with traditional high temperature solid state reaction, the prepared method of Sm2Ti2S2O5 bya modified coprecipitation-gas solid reaction method can effectively reduce the reaction temperature and shorten reaction time. The prepared photocatalyst Sm2Ti2S2O5 had a activity for hydrogen evolution from water under visible light irradiation.
