Abstract: Glycerol is an important by-product for biodiesel production, its application is attracted by more and more people. In recent years, glycerol steam reforming (GSR) as an economical and efficient hydrogen production technology has been extensive studied by researchers. Research progress in GSR was summarized in terms of the thermodynamics, catalyst and process technology in this paper. It is noteworthy that the catalytic activity of Ni-based, Pt-based and other Ⅷ group elements catalysts were introduced particularly, with a view to provide a useful inspiration for the research in the field.
Key words: biodiesel; glycerol; steam reforming; catalyst; Ⅷ group
