Abstract: In this paper, several molecular sieves with typical structures have been successfully synthesized. The pore structure and acidity of these molecular sieves were characterized by BET and NH3-TPD. Furthermore, the catalytic performance of these molecular sieves was investigated in xylene isomerization. The results indicated that the pore structure and acidity of catalysts are the key factors for xylene isomerization, the former is responsible the reaction type, while the latter was closely related to the reaction activity and selectivity. The xylene isomerization catalyst with high performance should have appropriate pore structure and acidity, especially a high ratio of medium strong acid sites.

Key words: molecular sieves; xylene isomerization; pore structure; acidity acid strength distribution
