Abstract: Vinyl acetate (VAc) is one of the important organic chemical materials. In China, VAc is usually synthetized by ethyne and acetic acid. However, due to the environmental and resource crisis, the method of acetoxylation of ethylene to form VAc will become more and more important. This review summarizes the latest research progress on the method of producing VAc, reaction mechanism of VAc and catalysts of acetoxylation of ethylene to produce VAc. It is focused on the surface construction, active sites, effect of Au and reasons of deactivation of Pd-Au catalyst. Also, research directions are suggested to advance the future work in this field in the last.

Key words: Vinyl Acetate; Acetoxylation of Ethylene; Pd-Au Catalyst; Research Progress
