Abstract: The friction reducing and anti-wear properties of the nano-Al2O3/FeS solid lubricant composite layer were investigated using a MS-T4000 tester under a continuous loading at elevated temperature. The chemical states of typical elements on the worn surfaces were analyzed using X- ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). The results showed that nano-Al2O3/FeS solid lubricant composite layer possessed excellent friction reducing properties and wear resistance from room temperature to 150℃ under a continuous loading. Element S in forms of sulfide and sulfate was found on the worn surface while element Al was not found. This suggested that the tribochemical film on the worn surface were mainly sulfide and sulfate.
