Abstract: Organophilic graphene was prepared through an oxidation-dispersion-reduction process, and the analysis of X-ray diffraction showed that expected product was obtained. Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS)/ polyfluo-wax /graphene coatings were prepared through a spraying method and the results showed that friction coefficients of composite coatings were much lower than that of pure PPS coating, but the wear lifetime of composite coatings were obviously higher than that of pure PPS coating, and the optimal fraction of graphene in the composites was 0.8 Phr(g/100g). Adhesive wear was the major wear mode of pure PPS coating, and wear mode of composite coatings was dominated by abrasive wear. Fatigue wear appeared for composite coatings with higher content of graphene. A discontinuous thick transfer film on the counterpart ring for pure PPS coating was observed, and many cracks perpendicular to sliding direction appeared on the surface of the transfer film. However, a uniform thin transfer film for composites coatings were formed, and morphology of transfer film corresponded to the tribological properties.
