Abstract: In order to explore tribological properties and mechanism of polyimide bonded MoS2 solid lubricant coating in oils, the friction and wear of polyimide bonded MoS2 solid lubricant coating in four different oils (Kerosene RP-3, Lubrication oil SG 15W-40, Diesel fuel 0#and Paraffin liquid) were investigated on a MHK-500 friction-wear tester. The results showed that the antifriction and antiwear properties of the coating in oil (especially in Diesel fuel) were markedly improved than that of the coating under dry sliding. ,In the same oil, the coating exhibited better antiwear properties at the load of 1120 N and the low sliding speed (2.56 m/s) than that at the load of 2120 N and the high sliding speed (1.54 m/s). The variation of the physical state of the frictional surface of the coating was responsible for the fluctuation of friction coefficient and high wear rate at 1.54 m/s and 2120 N in kerosene.
