About LICP:
Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP), Chinese Academy of Science, (CAS) was founded in 1958. Since its establishment, the Institute has contributed significantly to China’s economic construction, national security, especially to the petrochemical industry, “Two Bombs and One Satellite” Program (one atomic bomb in 1964, one hydrogen bomb in 1967 and one man-made satellite in 1970) and the development of strategic high technology. It has also made remarkable achievements in catalysis, lubrication and tribology theory, separation and analysis science and technology, etc.
The Institute has formed three major disciplines, namely resource chemistry (catalysis and chemical engineering, chemical utilization of mineral resources, etc.), new materials (advanced lubricating materials, ecological environment materials, organic/inorganic functional materials, etc.) and chemical biology (analytic chemistry and natural medicinal chemistry, etc.) through the implementation of the Knowledge Innovation Program of the CAS.
Currently, LICP has 7 key research units, namely the State Key Laboratory for Oxo Synthesis and Selective Oxidation, State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication, National Engineering Research Center of Fine Petrochemical Intermediates, Key Laboratory of Northwestern Plant Resources Utilization (Key Laboratory of Natural Medicine of Gansu Province) and so on.
Through more than 50 years’ development, the Institute has developed into the High-tech Innovation Research Base of Resource Chemistry and New Materials with distinctive characteristics in the western part of China.
In 2010, the construction of the “Qingdao Research and Development Center of LICP, CAS” has begun. It is planned to recruit 300 scientific research personnel whose domiciles will be in Laoshan District, Qingdao.
