The Science Camp for Children and Youth of Western China (Gansu branch), which consists of 12 high school students from Gansu province, visited the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS, on August 5.

The students visited the exhibition room and the Key Laboratory of Chemistry of Northwestern Plant Resources of the CAS successively. They were acquainted with the development, research areas, training of postgraduates, sci-tech innovation, facilities and scientific experiments of the Institute. And in the later discussion session, the researchers shared with the students their experience in developing scientific thinking and interest in science.

The Science Camp for Children and Youth of Western China Activity is co-organized by the Children & Youth Science Center of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the Bureau of Planning and Strategy of the CAS. It aims to cultivate talents for the development of science and technology. It provides an opportunity for the promising youth in western China with an access to the frontiers of science. It is firstly carried out in Sichuan and Gansu provinces in 2010.
