Prof. DONG Jinxiang of the Refined Chemical Industry Research Institute, Taiyuan University of Technology, visited the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP), CAS, on August 12, 2010.
After the visit, Prof. DONG delivered a report entitled “Basic Research on the Synthesis, Modification and Application of Layered Materials”. The report was presided over by Prof. LIU Weimin, director of the LICP. In his report, Prof. DONG introduced the research background of layered silicate materials, synthesis and performance of α-layered silicate materials, modification and lubrication of layered silicate materials, ion exchange materials, pillared materials, fabrication of improved α-layered silicate materials and layered zirconium phosphate materials, application of layered silicate materials in industrial lubricants.
Prof. DONG is the winner of the National Outstanding Youth Foundation. He has long engaged in the research on the synthesis, performance and application of fine inorganic chemicals. The research objects involve layered silicate materials with excellent ion exchange, adsorption and catalytic properties and zeolite molecule sieves. He has solved the crystal structural stability of δ-layered sodium silicate in hot water and invented the new vapor phase transport method for the synthesis of zeolite molecule sieves. The research has won the second prize of the National Award for Science and Technology Progress and various ministerial and provincial-level awards.
Prof. Dong was invited by the State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication, LICP, CAS.
