Prof. Jane Wang of the Northwestern University of the United States Visits LICP

Prof. Jane Wang of the Northwestern University, USA, visited the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP), CAS, on August 11, 2010, and gave a report entitled “Approaching Tribology Interfaces”.

Centering around both macro- and micro- problems concerning the research on tribological surfaces and interfaces, Prof. Jane Wang mainly introduced the achievements her research group has made in tribological surfaces/interfaces and contact behavior in lubrication. The report covered a wide range of areas, such as multi-scale numerical simulation of surfaces in material tribology, contact behavior of lubricating films, contact behavior in solid/oil system , textured surface contact model, surface design and fabrication.

Prof. Jane Wang received her doctoral degree from Northwestern University, USA, in 1993. She has studied and worked in Northern Illinois University, Northwestern University and Florida International University successively. Now she is a lifetime professor of the mechanical engineering department of the Northwestern University, Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers of the United States, vice-editor of Journal of Tribology and Tribology Transactions. She has made remarkable achievements in tribology, lubrication and surface science; published over 130 papers in key journals in tribology; completed several research projects of some large-scale American enterprises.

Prof. Jane Wang was invited by Prof. XUE Qunji, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, of the State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication, LICP.
