Lectures on homogeneous catalysis were held by the State Key Laboratory for Oxo Synthesis and Selective Oxidation of the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP) on June 2.
Prof. DA Chaoshan from the School of Life Sciences of Lanzhou University, Prof. FAN Chun’an, associate Prof. LIU Zhongquan and Prof. YANG Shangdong from the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Lanzhou University were invited to give reports.
In his lecture entitled “Passivation of Grignard Reagents and Its Application in Catalytic Asymmetric Addition Reactions of Aldehyde”, Prof. DA introduced approaches for the passivation of Grignard reagents and its application in catalytic asymmetric addition reactions of aldehyde. His group has developed a series of highly efficient approaches for the passivation of Grignard reagents and achieved efficient synthesis of optically pure chiral secondary alcohol. The title of Prof. FAN’s report is “Catalytic Asymmetric Synthesis of Some Bioactive Hydrodibenzofuran-Type Alkaloids” which introduced his group’s research on asymmetric total synthesis of biologically active alkaloids and related synthetic methods. They have realized total synthesis of medicine molecule and other alkaloids and integrated organic synthetic methods with the total synthesis of natural products. Associate Prof. LIU gave a systematic introduction of reaction routes for alcohol catalyzed C-C formation and the formation of C-C via Pd-Catalyzed C-H Activation in his lecture entitled “Sustainable Transformation-Alcohol Activation & Pd-Catalyzed C-H Activation”. He also introduced his group’s work on C-H activation. In his lecture entitled “Transition Metal-Catalyzed C-C and C-P Bond Formation”, Prof. YANG introduced transition metal-catalyzed C-H functionlization and C-P cross-coupling reaction.
Prof. XIA Chungu, vice director of LICP, chaired the lectures.
LICP and Lanzhou University has long established a close cooperative relationship in catalytic field.
