The Convening of the Extended Conference of the Standing Directors of Gansu Chemical Society in LICP
On 18th April, the 4th conference of the standing directors (extended conference) of the 15th council of Gansu Chemical Society was held in Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Nearly 40 council members, who came from institutions of higher education, scientific research institutions, enterprises and secondary schools, attended the meeting. Deputy Secretary-General of Chinese Chemical Society, Council Chairman of Gansu Chemical Society and Director of LICP, Prof. Weimin Liu presided over the meeting. During the meeting, the summary report of the work of Gansu Chemical Society in 2008, the plan of the academic activities of the Society in 2009, the suggestion for the holding of the 16th representative assembly of the members of the Society and the matters concerning the election methods of the council members of the 16th council and other related matters have been discussed and deliberated.
Council Chairman Weimin Liu made the summary report. He thanked all the council members of Gansu Association for Science and Technology and the directors of all the specialty committees for their concern about and support of the development of Gansu Chemical Society. He pointed out that, with the support of the national educational policies and the great efforts made by the educators and scientific researchers, the chemistry subject and chemical education in secondary schools of Gansu province had made substantial achievements. He hoped that Gansu Chemical Society could strengthen the communication with developed regions to promote resource sharing and push forward the reform and development of Gansu Chemical Society through such communication and mutual learning. And he also wished that the Society could play an important role in improving the scientific literacy of the social members, in the cultivation of the talents and in the reform and innovation of chemical education in secondary schools of Gansu province.
