Third Symposium on Middle School Chemistry Education in Western China Hosted by Chinese Chemical Society Held in Lanzhou

The third symposium on middle school chemistry education in western China, hosted by the Chinese Chemical Society (CCS), was held in Lanzhou from July 16 to July 17. The symposium was organized by Gansu Chemical Society (GCS) and Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (LICP) and co-organized by Education Committee of the CCS and the Chemistry Education Committee of the Gansu Education Society. More than 150 representatives engaging in chemistry education from 13 provinces and postgraduates from LICP attended the symposium.

Prof. LIU Weimin, vice secretary-general of CCS, Prof. FANG Zhi, vice secretary-general of CCS, CHEN Jizong from the Department of Education of Gansu province delivered remarks respectively. Prof. ZHOU Feng, secretary-general of GCS chaired the symposium.

During the Symposium, altogether 12 lectures have been made, covering the complication of chemistry textbooks for high school students, instructional design, research on chemical experiments and practices, chemistry Olympic contest, etc. About 140 papers have been collected and 36 of them have been awarded Excellent Thesis Title.

The general assembly of the Chemistry Education Committee of Gansu Education Society was also held during the Symposium.
