YIN Hejun Inspects LICP’s Xuyi R&D Center of Attapulgite Clay Application

YIN Hejun, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), inspected the XUyi R&D Center of Attapulgite Clay Application of the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics of the CAS on July 18.

YIN Hujun was first acquainted with the overall conditions of the Center and then watched the propaganda video of the attapulgite resources in Xuyi. He spoke highly of the establishment of the Center and progress made by LICP in key technologies of attapulgite resources.

Since 2001, LICP has started the research on attapulgite clay, including the study of attapulgite clay based organic/inorganic composite water-retaining agents, absorbents with three-dimensional cross-linked network and highly sticky mineral gel. The industrialization of composite water-retaining agent technology has been achieved in Shandong Shengli Oilfield. In order to enhance cooperation, in 2008 Attapulgite R&D Joint Laboratory was co-founded by LICP and Jiangsu Jiuchuan Nano-material Technology Corporation Limited. In 2010, R&D Center of Attapulgite Clay Application was established jointly by LICP and Xuyi government. Since its establishment, the Center has hosted 2010 Gansu-Jiangsu Symposium on the Application of Attapulgite Clay and co-organized Sino-Us Symposium of Attapulgite Clay Research and Development in 2011.
