Professor YIN Guochuan and Professor GU Yanlong from Huazhong University of Science and Technology visited Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on April 31. During their visit, they each gave a lecture introducing their recent work.
In his lecture titled Diversity and Correlativity of Species with Catalytic Oxidation Activity, Prof. YIN introduced his group’s investigation on difference of MnIV-OH, MnIV=O and MnIV-OOH in oxidation property when it comes to hydrogen abstraction, hydrogen transfer and electron transfer. He also shared their progress in biomass energy conversion.
Prof. GU introduced his group’s work on environmental-friendly synthesis of green media based on ionic liquid, water, glycerol and gluconate and design of catalytic systems in view of new atom-economic reaction in the lecture titled Green chemistry-oriented synthesis and catalysis: progressing on solvent innovation and atom-economy.
They were invited by the State Key Laboratory for Oxo Synthesis and Selective Oxidation.
Introduction to lecturers:
Prof. YIN received his bachelor’s degree from Zhejiang University in 1990 and doctor’s degree from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the CAS in 1998. He then did research in Kyushu University from 1999 to 2001. From 2001 to 2007 he did post-doctoral research in Kansas State University, USA. He joined Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2008. His main research areas include catalytic oxidation.
Prof. GU received his bachelor’s degree from Inner Mongolia University in 1999 and received his doctor’s degree from LICP. From 2005 and 2008 he did research in University of Tokyo and Universite de Poitiers, France. He joined Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2008. His main research areas include green chemistry and clean catalytic synthesis.
