Prof. Zhou Yonggui, from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS, was invited to visit our institute by Prof. Huang Hanmin, from June 14th to June 15th, 2009. Prof. Zhou presented his academic lecture with the title of “Catalytic Asymmetric Hydrogenation of Aromatic Heterocyclic compound ” on May 15th. Prof. Zhou discussed in detail his research group’s work on the transition metal-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of nitrogen-containing heteroaromatic compounds and asymmetric hydrogenation catalyzed by transitional palladium complex. The lecture was not only vivacious but enlightening as well. More than thirty research fellows and students participate in the academic lecture, and hold deeper discussions about the content of the lecture with Prof. Zhou after his lecture delivering.
Prof. Zhou had graduated from Huaibei Coal Normal College in 1993, and gotten his PhD in 1999 in Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, CAS , Dr. Zhou had been to Pennsylvania State University to engage in the Post-Doc research. At present, his research mainly center on asymmetric catalysis and synthesis. Prof. Zhou had published more than 30 papers in these magazines: Acc. Chem. Res.; J. Am. Chem. Soc.; Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.; Org. Lett.; J. Org. Chem.; Adv. Synth. Catal.; Chem.commun.. Thereinto, a review paper published on Acc. Chem. Res. in 2007 ranked No. 1 as the Most-accessed Articles from all ACS Journals in 2007.
