The State Key Laboratory for Oxo Synthesis and Selective Oxidation at the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP) held the second series of lectures on homogenous catalysis of the year 2011 on August 12. Speakers included Prof. Masato Kitamura from the Nagoya University, Prof. JIANG Huanfeng from the South China University of Technology, Prof. LEI Aiwen from the Wuhan University and Prof. HUANG Hanmin from the LICP.
Prof. Masato Kitamura introduced his group’s research on the design of metathesis-type donor-acceptor bifucntional catalysts (DACat) and redox-type DACat and their application in asymmetric hydrogenation of ketones in his lecture entitled Metathesis-type Donor-Acceptor Bifucntional Catalysts (DACat) and Redox-type DACat. In his report entitled Palladium-Catalyzed Oxidation of Alkenes with Molecular Oxygen, Prof. JIANG Huanfeng explained his group’s work on palladium-catalyzed oxidative cleavage of C-C double bond and functionlization of C-C double bond with oxygen as the oxidant to develop clean and environmental- friendly oxidants.
Prof. LEI Aiwen introduced his group’s research on the mechanism of coupling reaction catalyzed by copper, in particularly copper catalyzed C-N coupling reaction and C-C coupling reaction. The title of his report is Insights of Copper Chemistry in Coupling Chemistry. In his report entitled New Approach to Functional N-Containing Heterocycles and Their Applications,Prof HUANG Hanmin presented his group’s progress in the functionalization of N-containing heterocycles and their applications in recent years.
The State Key Laboratory for Oxo Synthesis and Selective Oxidation held the first series of lectures on homogenous catalysis of the year 2011 in June. The lectures are held to expand researchers and students’ vision and enhance academic exchanges.
