The 2012 enlarged meeting of standing directors of Tribology Institute of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES) was held in Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on April 29. About 30 directors attended the meeting. Professor LIU Weimin, chairman of the Tribology Institute and director of LICP, chaired the meeting.

In the meeting, the work to be carried out in 2012 by the Institute was introduced, including the bidding for various conferences on tribology, issues concerning the establishment of special committees, etc. Besides, the directors expressed their congratulations to Professor XUE Qunji who received the 2011 Tribology Gold Medal, the internationally recognized as the highest honor in tribology research and application.
