Recently, Dr. Fuk-Yee Kwong from the Hongkong Polytechnic University visited the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and delivered a lecture entitled “To Learn and Apply, for the Benefit of Mankind: A Postgraduate Life in PolyU” on 16th July for the postgraduates in LICP.
Dr. Fuk-Yee Kwong first briefly introduced the history, present condition and future prospect of PolyU and the basic situation of the Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology of PolyU. Then he discussed with the postgraduates in LICP about the cultivation of postgraduates in PolyU. The postgraduates present asked Dr. Fuk-Yee Kwong a lot of questions. The questions covered an extensive range, from the qualifications for admission, the whole course of the cultivation to the postgraduate life, from the evaluation of the quality of the cultivation to the qualification certification of tutors, from the characteristic of the cultivation of postgraduates in Hongkong to that of Europe and so on. Dr. Fuk-Yee Kwong answered these questions patiently and in great detail. Postgraduates participating in the lecture all thought the lecture helpful. Dr. Fuk-Yee Kwong made the lecture mainly in English. However, he used Cantonese occasionally, which made the atmosphere relaxed and cheerful.
The Hongkong Polytechnic University has established good cooperative relation with LICP in the aspect of the cultivation of postgraduates. Dr. Fuk-Yee Kwong’s visit would be bound to promote further cooperation between the two sides.
