BAI Chunli, president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and ZHAN Wenlong, vice president of the CAS, inspected the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP) on August 21.

They visited the State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication, State Key Laboratory for Oxo Synthesis and Selective Oxidation, CAS Key Laboratory of Chemistry of Northwestern Plant Resources and R&D Center for Eco-material and Eco-chemistry of the LICP. They were acquainted with the major work of the LICP, namely, synthesis of oxygen-containing chemicals using methyl, development of high-end lubricating and protecting materials, industrial application of friction-reducing and antiwear solid lubricating techniques, high-value utilization of plant resources which can be used either as medicine or used for food, high-value utilization of attapulgite clay, etc.

During the conference attended by BAI Chunli and ZHAN Wenlong on August 22, LIU Weimin, director of the LICP, made a summary report concerning the work of the LICP in recent years and future plan of the LICP. BAI spoke highly of the LICP’s contributions and raised some advice for the future development.
