Prof. Albert Padwa at Emory University, USA, visited the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on November 18. During his visit, Albert Padwa delivered a report entitle Use of Sulfur Fragments for the Synthesis of Nitrogen Heterocycles.
In the report, Albert Padwa introduced in detail the use of sulfur fragments for the synthesis of nitrogen heterocycles, including the background and history, synthesis of some specific nitrogen heterocycles using sulfur, their synthetic methods and processes, research on the properties of these heterocycles and the application of the studies in total synthesis of natural products.
Albert Padwa is a world renowned organic chemist and expert in heterocycles. He has more than 800 publications and works.
On the same day, Prof. HONG Xuechuan from Wuhan University was also invited to give a lecture entitled Synthesis of Antitubercular Natural Compounds introducing the 2,1-benzothiazines for the synthesis of anti-tubercular natural products at LICP.
Albert Padwa and HONG Xuechuan were invited by the State Key Laboratory for Oxo Synthesis and Selective Oxidation of the LICP.
