Dr. JIA Xiaodong from Northwest Normal University at LICP

Dr. JIA Xiaodong from the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Northwest Normal University visited Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on September 18. During his visit, he delivered a lecture entitled Catalytic oxidation of C-H bond promoted by radical cation salts.

In his lecture, Dr. JIA Xiaodong first introduced his work on Pd(0) catalyzed conjunctive carboiodination, including the development of a palladium catalyzed domino intermolecular alkyne insertion/intramolecular alkene insertion terminated by a C-I reductive elimination. In this reaction, two new C-C bonds, one new C-I bond and one five membered ring are formed in a single step, and all of the atoms in the starting materials are incorporated into the product. The he shared his research on radical cation salts, including synthesis of tetrahydroquinolines induced by radical cation salts, etc.

Dr. JIA Xiaodong is giving a lecture.

Dr. JIA Xiaodong received his bachelor’s degree and doctor’s degree from the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Lanzhou University in 1999 and 2004 respectively. From March 2005 to December 2006 he did postdoctoral work at School of Life Sciences of Lanzhou University. In 2007 he joined Northwest Normal University. From August 2011 to July 2012 he studied at the University of Toronto in the group of Professor Mark Lautens as a visiting scholar. Dr. JIA Xiaodong’s research interests include methodology in organic chemical reactions and free radical chemistry. He has published more than 20 papers in ACIE, Org. Lett., Advanced Synth.&Catal., EJOC, etc.
