New Progress in Assembled Materials and Luminescent Nano-materials Made by LICP

New progress in the assembly of ordered aggregate structure and preparation of luminescent nano-materials was made by the State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication, Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The research findings were published in the latest issue of the world renowned journal-Journal of Colloid and Interface Science (Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2010, 342, 43-48).And this work was published in the form of Cover Picture of the journal. The related work published in ChemPhysChem (ChemPhysChem, 2009, 10, 3201-3203) was highlighted in the picture by the editors of the journal.

As the important branch of the science of soft materials, colloid and interface science has crossed the borders of material science, life science and pharmaceutical chemistry.Assembly of ordered aggregate structure and preparation of ultra small and stable luminescent nanoparticles using soft materials as templates have been a challenge faced by researchers on both nano-science and colloid and interface science. In recent years, many researches in this field have been carried out worldwide.

In the research conducted by the State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication, the magnetic particles were assembled in vesicle phase using assembly technology, which has realized the fixed point moving of the model system of biofilm under magnetic guidance and provided the experimental basis for the site-specific drug delivery. The ultra small and stable blue- and green- emitting luminescent nano ZnO materials were prepared from ionic liquid crystal precursors, which has provided a new strategy for the preparation of nano-materials besides the traditional methods and was highlighted as better techniques” in the editors’ review.
