The annual seminar of 973 Program, “Basic Research on the Lubricating and Anti-wear Materials under Harsh Conditions”, was held in Beijing on December 24, 2009. Launched in October, 2006, this project was supported by the National Basic Research Program of China and co-undertaken by the State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication, Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP), CAS, and other 9 national research units. Prof. LIU Weimin, the director of laboratory, LICP, took on the leading scientist of the project.

22 delegates from the different national institutes and universities attended the seminar. Each participating units also made the speech on the progress, management, use of funds and future arrangement of their respective research project. Experts from Tsinghua University and Shandong University were specially invited to participate in symposium and raise their genuine suggestions on the general implementation of the program.
