Professor XUE Qunji, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and director of the academic committee of Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was honored as one of the top 10 excellent alumni of Shandong University. Professor XUE was given this honor for his outstanding contributions to tribology and lubricating materials.

Professor XUE graduated from the Chemistry Department at Shandong University in 1965. He has won many national, ministry and provincial-level awards.In recognition of his outstanding achievements in tribology, the 2011 Tribology Gold Medal, world’s top award in this field, was bestowed on Prof. XUE Qunji. This is the first Chinese scientist who ever receives the award.
