Professor WANG Aiqin from the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was appointed member of the editorial board of Chemical Engineering Research and Design (ChERD, www.icheme.org/journals).

Professor WANG Aiqin is the director of R&D Center for Eco-material and Eco-chemistry at LICP. His research interests include organic/inorganic superabsorbent composites; modification of clay minerals and their applications; chemistry of chitin, chitosan and their derivatives and functional adsorbent materials. In recent years, he has carried out research on three dimensional organic/inorganic absorbing materials, cationic dyes and removal of heavy metal and accomplished the preparation of particle-sized functional adsorbing material through one step. He has won second prize of National Award for Science and Technology Progress and second prize of Gansu Provincial-Level Science and Technology Award.

Chemical Engineering Research and Design specialises in research with practical significance, extending the boundaries of traditional chemical engineering. According to ISI Journal Citation Reports, the impact factor and 5 year impact factor of ChERD is 1.968 and 2.028 respectively in 2011.
