Professor ZHAO Dongyuan from Fudan University Visits LICP

Professor ZHAO Dongyuan is delivering a lecture.

ZHAO Dongyuan, professor at Fudan University and member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) visited Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics of CAS on September 2. During his visit, he delivered a lecture entitled Synthesis and Application of ordered mesoporous materials.

Since their discovery, silica-based mesoporous molecular sieves have attracted much attention. Their special mesostructure and properties, high specific surface area, large pore volume, long and uniform pore size have made them promising in petroleum cracking, catalysis, absorption and separation.

In his lecture, ZHAO Dongyuan introduced the method his group has developed to synthesize ordered mesoporous materials.

ZHAO Dongyuan received his bachelor and master degree from Jilin University in 1984 and 1987 respectively, and his Ph.D. degree from Jilin University and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics in 1990. From 1992 to 1993, he was a visiting scholar at the Chemistry Department of University of Regina. After postdoctoral research at the Weizmann Institute of Science (with Prof. Daniella Goldfarb, 1993-1994), University of Houston (with Prof. Larry Kevan, 1995-1996), and University of California at Santa Barbara (with Prof. Galen D. Stucky, 1996-1998), he joined the faculty of the Fudan University in Dec.1998, where he is now Professor at the Department of Chemistry. He was selected member of CAS in 2007 and member of the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in 2010. He has published more than 500 papers in journals included in the SCI and applied more than 50 patents.

  His research interests include:

macro- and microscopically topological construction of highly ordered porous materials

designed synthesis, assembly, growth and properties of mesoporous materials

structure and synthesis design of novel microporous molecular sieves

rational synthesis and organization of novel patterned nanoscale materials
