Professor Armido Studer from Westf?lische- Wilhelms- University Visits LICP

Professor Armido Studer from the Westf?lische- Wilhelms-University visited the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on March 29. During his visit, he gave a lecture entitled The electron is a catalyst.

In his report, Prof. Armido Studer introduced his group’s work on organic synthetic reactions using electron as catalysts and shared some examples in study on homogeneous catalytic reactions. He also put forward the issues to be solved in using electron as catalysts.

Armido Studer received his Diploma in 1991 and his PhD in 1995 from ETH Zürich (Switzerland) under the direction of Prof. Dieter Seebach. He completed postdoctoral studies at the University of Pittsburgh with Prof. Dennis P. Curran. In 1996 he started his independent career at the ETH Zürich. In 2000, he was appointed as Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Philipps-University in Marburg (Germany) and in 2004 as Full Professor (C4) of Organic Chemistry at the Westf?lische- Wilhelms- University in Münster (Germany). He received a number of awards such as the Novartis Young Investigator Award in Chemistry (2006), the Solvias Ligand Contest Award (2007), and Research Award of the WWU Münsters (2014) etc.
