LICP Researchers Attend STLE 70th Annual Meeting

The STLE (Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers, STLE) 70th Annual Meeting and Exhibition was held in Dallas Texas May 17 - 21, 2015. More than 1400 people from research institutions, lubricating oil companies, tribological equipment companies attended the conference. Professor CHEN Jianmin, Professor ZHOU Feng, Professor JIA Junhong, Professor ZHOU Jiansong and Dr. LI Weimin from the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences attended the conference.

 
The five-day conference (Sunday-Thursday) showcased more than 300 technical papers, application-based case studies, best practice reports and discussion panels on technical and market trends. Heidemarie M. Stefanyshyn-Piper, a female astronaut from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) delivered a plenary lecture entitled History’s Ultimate Lube Job: Lubricating the International Space Station. Professor CHEN Jianmin, Professor ZHOU Feng, Professor JIA Junhong, and Dr. LI Weimin each delivered a lecture entitled Research on application of superlubricative carbon-based film in space technology, Bio-inspired surface chemistry for tribological applications (Panelist for Multifunctional Surfaces for Tribology: An Emerging Technology Session), Frictional behavior of micro/nano-textured surfaces investigated by AFM and Study of schizochytrium aggregatum oil as novel environmentally friendly lubricants.
