LICP Researchers Attend 8th Sino-British Workshop on Tribology

Dr. LIU Weimin, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a professor at the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) delivered a plenary lecture on the 8th Sino-British Workshop on Tribology. The workshop was held on June 8 at the University of Southampton.

In his lecture entitled Tribology of Space Technology, Dr LIU introduced the development of liquid lubricants for space application in China, the application of new lubricating materials in China’s space industry, the research on lubricating materials for space application carried out by the State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication of the LICP.

Nicola Symonds, Agata Tomaszewska and Tim Kamps from the University of Southampton each delivered a lecture entitled Applied Research for Industry: RCF of rail axle bearings, Ice-runner interaction in the sport of bob skeleton and Challenging the linear wear rate assumption: An in-situ stylus profilometer for a reciprocating tribometer. YANG Shuyan and LIU Xuqing from the LICP each delivered a lecture entitled The Tribological Properties of in situ Synthesized Ionic Liquids along the Stribeck Curve and Fibre Surface Molecular Engineering for Multi-Functional Textiles and Tribology in Fabrics & Textile.

During the Workshop, the future cooperation between the LICP and the University of Southampton , and the joint application of scientific programs between the two sides were also discussed.

The Sino-British Workshop on Tribology was jointly launched by the LICP and the University of Southampton. The time the workshop was chaired by Professor Robert J K Wood, vice-president of International Society of Tribology and the director of the  UK National Centre for Advanced Tribology at Southampton (nCATS) within Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton.
