Synthesis of magnetic adsorbents incorporating metal-organic framework materials and their applications in environmental and food sample preparation: A review

Abstract

Magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) technology is widely applied for the pre-concentration of trace contaminants in complex environmental and food matrices due to its simplicity, eco-friendliness, high efficiency, ease of operation, and convenient adsorbent recovery. As the core component of this technique, developing highperformance magnetic adsorbents with outstanding adsorption capacity and excellent magnetic response remains a key research focus. In recent years, a series of MOF-based magnetic adsorbents (MMOFs) have been developed based on the superior physicochemical properties of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for adsorbing and extracting emerging pollutants in the environment and food. This review systematically summarizes the preparation methods of MMOFs and their applications in extracting pollutants from complex matrices, while outlining future development directions. It aims to provide a theoretical foundation and reference for designing novel MMOFs and confirms the significant potential of MOFs in sample pretreatment applications through comprehensive analysis.
