Born in Beiliu County, Guangxi Province in 1929;
Elected as the member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1997;

Education:
Graduated from the Department of Chemical Engineering, South China University of Technology, in August, 1953;

Appointments and Positions:
Former Honorary Board Chairperson of the Tribology Institute;
Former Honorary Director of the Academic Committee of the Sate Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication;
Former Director of the Academic Committee of the Key Laboratory for Special Functional Materials, Henan University;
Former Honorary Chief Editor of Tribology;
One of the founders of the Discipline of Lubricating Materials of the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences;

Awards Won: (9 national awards, 15 ministerial and provincial level awards and awards of the CAS;)
Research on Solid Lubrication won the Third Prize of National Award for Natural Sciences;
Research on and Popularization of Film-Forming Ointment for Gear Lubrication won the Third Prize of National Award for Science and Technology Progress;
Super-Low-Temperature and High-Speed Gear Lubricating Materials won the Third Prize of National Award for Invention;
MFC-1 White Lubricating Film-Forming Ointment won the Third Prize of National Award for Invention;
Special Lubricating Materials for Worm-Gear won the Second Prize of Award for Science and Technology Progress of the CAS;

Academic Contributions:
  Prof. Dang has accumulated abundant experience in and contributed a lot to the applied research on special lubricating materials for national high-tech development.
  He has reached a relatively high level in the research on lubricating grease, special lubricating coating materials, lubricating and protecting materials for aeronautics and astronautics, polymer composite materials, etc, and enjoyed a great fame at home and abroad. He has published more than 190 papers at home and abroad and obtained 5 Chinese invention patents.
